Joy's Chocolate Pie

This pie is so easy! And so good. I came across the recipe by way of my sister-in-law's blog. Wanting to make something festive for the 4th, I found this just in the nick of time!

Recipe below is copied and pasted from in so many wards. Thanks Joy. This one is going down in my go-to dessert recipes.

the recipe is from Southern Living (Feb. 2010).

ingredients:
1 refrigerated pie crust
6 oz. unsweetened chocolate squares, chopped
14 oz. can of fat-free sweetened condensed milk
8 oz. fat free cool-whip (thawed)
fresh raspberries for garnish

make/cook piecrust according to directions on package.
while the crust cools, microwave the chocolate until melted, stirring every 30 seconds.
whisk in the milk until smooth; let stand 2 minutes.
fold in half of the cool-whip until combined and pour into crust.
chill 4-8 hours. spread rest of cool-whip over pie and garnish with raspberries.

Confession: I used regular sweetened condensed milk {not fat free}. I have issues {and fears} about fat free/ sugar free things. But after experiencing the richness {and deliciousness} of this pie I'm definitely going with the fat free next time.

Baby steps, right?!

  1. "Fat free condensed milk" seems like an oxymoron to me. This looks wonderful ... and so easy!
